King Shaka International Airport situated approximately 40km North of central Durban opened its doors to both Local and International flights on the 1 May 2010. The name was bestowed to the airport to honor the name of the powerful Zulu Warrior, King Shaka whom ruled in the 19th Century. Flights usually start at 06H00 and end at 10H00 daily with the airport capable of handling 7.5 million passengers per year.
As a recognized Public Transporter, Southern Shuttle offers 3 to 4 daily Shuttles from the Durban Airport (King Shaka International Airport) to various selected points down the South Coast of KZN. Most popular shuttle destinations on the South Coast, KZN are Wild Coast Sun, Port Edward, San Lameer, Margate, Shelly Beach, Port Shepstone, Scottburgh, Umkomaas and Amanzimtoti. Pre-bookings are essential. Collections are made from the designated Public Transportation Area which is on the opposite side of the car rental and Drop & Go area of the Terminal Building.
